This is my Wild Aunt Faith McKenzie. Faith had more faith than anyone I had ever met. She would tell me of her conversations with Jesus and God. My favorite was when she was very old in a wheel chair. She was small in stature, and only skin and bones with a gentle tremor that kept her head nodding. She was telling me of her conversation with God that morning. "'God, why am I still alive in this frail body. I cannot walk, I cannot do much at all.'" God replied, 'You are alive to give warm Godly hugs to everyone in your life.' So come on in and get a hug from God." she said to me. And that little elderly woman gave me the warmest and strongest hug I ever received.
Faith always reminded me to remember the divinity in life. To remember the preciousness of every moment. To remember to laugh and to cry. Her stories and folk songs were full of wild adventures and mythology of the Irish and Scottish isles. Aunt Faith will always connect me to my roots of wild water people. Gratitude to our ancestors and plantcestors to always remind us where we came from that makes us who we are. Bless. |
